SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn about the death of Ruth J. (nee Tunila) Wiggers of
4Lincoln, who passed away on September 28, 2013; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Ruth Wiggers was born on November 20, 1933 to John
6and Viola Tunila; she grew up in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania and
7graduated from Wilkes Barre Township High School; she attended
8Western Union Telegraph School in Washington, D.C. and then
9settled in Illinois; she married Marvin Wiggers at the First
10United Methodist Church in Lincoln on September 21, 1968; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Ruth Wiggers worked as a waitress at the Blue Dog
12Inn in Lincoln and the Heritage Inn; she also worked for the
13EATON Corporation (formerly known as Cutler Hammer); and
 
14    WHEREAS, Ruth Wiggers and her husband loved to dance and
15were longtime members of the Hartsburg/Emden and Delevan Dance
16Clubs; they liked to travel and saw all 50 states; she was a
174-H leader for many years and enjoyed arts and crafts of all
18kinds; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Ruth Wiggers was preceded in death by her parents;
20her husband, Marvin; her sister, Helen Lutkoski; her brothers,
21Joe, Peter, and Victor Tunila; and her stepson, Kevin Wiggers;

2    WHEREAS, Ruth Wiggers is survived by her brother, Edward
3(Rita) Tunila; her daughter, Amy (Nathan) Chen; her
4sister-in-law, Katherina Goldhammer; her brother-in-law,
5Milton Wiggers; her sister-in-law, Cecilia Tunila; her
6step-daughter, Karen (John) Sandel; her son, Robert (Jill) Awe,
7Jr.; her daughter-in-law, Carrie Wiggers; her granddaughters,
8Ashley and Kinsley Chen, Shannon (Dan) Doolin, and Courtney
9Awe; her grandsons, Gregory Chen, Matthew (Tessa) Sandel,
10Isreal Sandel, Christian Sandel, and Clint Awe; her 7
11great-grandchildren; her many nieces, nephews, great-nieces,
12great-nephews, great-great-nieces, and great-great-nephews;
13and her friend, Tom LaVenda; therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
15ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
16Ruth J. Wiggers, and extend our sincere condolences to her
17family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
18further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to the family of Ruth Wiggers as an expression of our
21deepest sympathy.
