SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Jerold R. "Jerry" Cordrey of McHenry, who
4passed away on January 31, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jerold Cordrey was born in Hillsdale, Michigan on
6May 21, 1927 to Howard Roscoe and Helen Irene (nee Mosher)
7Cordrey; he married Eve Belle Church on August 21, 1954 in
8Angola, Indiana; he served in the United States Navy as a
9Seaman 1st Class from 1946 to 1948 and received a World War II
10Victory Medal; he earned his Bachelor of Science degree from
11Hillsdale College and studied as a post-graduate at Michigan
12State University; he settled in McHenry in 1970; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Jerold Cordrey worked for 41 years as the Director
14of Training for the American Farm Bureau; he retired in 1992;
15and
 
16    WHEREAS, Jerold Cordrey was a member of St. Paul's
17Episcopal Church in McHenry, the McHenry Moose Lodge, Delta
18Sigma Phi, and served as a precinct committeeman; he was an
19avid boater and enjoyed playing bridge and spending time with
20his family; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Jerold Cordrey was preceded in death by his

1parents; his son, Eric Howard Cordrey; and by his brother,
2Howard Pressler Cordrey; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Jerold Cordrey is survived by his wife of 59
4years, Eve; his children, Timothy (Judy) Cordrey, Denise Koch,
5and Carole (Rodney) Ackerman; his grandchildren, Rachel,
6Jeremy, Katie, Bridget (Adam) Nelson, Callie (Ryan) Tessema,
7Nathan Koch, and Lucas (Brittany) Ackerman; his
8great-grandchildren, Josie, Sophie, Grey, Cole, Alyssa, Tyson,
9Jennifer, Christina, and Elliot; and his sister, Patricia Jane
10Partridge; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
13Jerold R. "Jerry" Cordrey, and extend our sincere condolences
14to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
15it further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Jerold Cordrey as an expression of
18our deepest sympathy.
