SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Percell Searcy, III.; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Percell Searcy, III was born in Chicago on August
54, 1988 to Gladys and Percell Searcy, Jr.; he was a member of
6the New Faith Baptist Church, joining in 2005; he graduated
7from Rich Central High School in 2006, attended Cheney
8University of Pennsylvania, and earned his associates degree in
9Biology from Prairie State Community College in 2009; he
10continued taking science courses at Governors State
11University; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Percell Searcy, III was gifted in science, math,
13art, writing, and music; he was known for his originality,
14creativity, verbal ability, and artistic talent, as well as for
15his passionate world views which were the subject of many of
16his songs and self-produced CDs; he was always concerned about
17oppressive societal conditions and the plight of those deemed
18"outside the mainstream"; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Percell Searcy, III enjoyed team sports, becoming
20a Taekwondo Black Belt, chess matches, and video games; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Percell Searcy, III is survived by his parents;

1his sister, Stephanie (Reuben); his brothers, McKinley Gray
2(Dorothy) and Anthony Hatcher; his uncles, Franklin Searcy
3(Marvin), Leonard Muhammed (Donna), and Earnest Searcy
4(Melba); his aunts, Ramona Christian, Jackie Currie (Robert),
5Iniece Brooks, Lydia, and Shamieka Searcy; and many cousins, in
6addition to Tamela, Gregory, Ilene, Naomi, Ketura, Adrian,
7Maria, Leonard Jr., Aisha, and Amira; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10Percell Searcy, III, and extend our sincere condolences to his
11family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
12further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Percell Searcy, III as an expression
15of our deepest sympathy.
