SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Albert D. "Vinegar Al" Burkus, who passed
4away on April 14, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Albert Burkus served his country with pride as a
6member of the United States Navy; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Albert Burkus enjoyed bright colors, loud
8Hawaiian shirts, a good joke, and playing golf; he was the only
9member of the Crystal Lake Country Club to naturally birdie all
10five par 3s in a single round and not break a 100; he was well
11known as a great dancer and demonstrated great pride having
12danced on American Bandstand; he loved music of all kinds,
13especially Motown; he also loved the American flag and strongly
14believed it to be sacred; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Albert Burkus is survived by his beloved wife of
1648 years, Agnes Burkus (nee Hughes); 2 sons, Kevin Burkus and
17Brian Burkus (Kim); a daughter, Colleen Gardner (John); his
18prized granddaughter, Josie Gardner, aka "His Josephine"; a
19brother, Daniel Burkus (Marie); a sister, Barbara Kintz; and
20many other loving family members and dear friends; therefore,
21be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
2ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
3family and friends, mourn the passing of Albert D. "Vinegar Al"
4Burkus; and be it further
 
5    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
6presented to the family of Albert Burkus as an expression of
7our sympathy.
