SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Elizabeth "Sue" Wirfs, who passed away on
4September 20, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Elizabeth Wirfs was born on November 20, 1923 in
6Chicago; her parents were Charles E. and Elizabeth (nee
7McCartin) Rogers; she married Sylvester "Skipper" Wirfs on May
829, 1948 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in McHenry; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Elizabeth Wirfs served as a volunteer at the
10Centegra Hospital - McHenry Auxiliary for 30 years; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Elizabeth Wirfs was a member of St. Patrick
12Catholic Church and the Ladies Guild of St. Patrick; she was
13also a member of Women of the Moose, the Ladies Auxiliary to
14the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and McHenry Township Senior
15Citizens; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Elizabeth Wirfs was preceded in death by her
17husband; her parents; 3 brothers, Charles, Gilbert, and John
18Rogers; and a sister, Margaret Hiller; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Elizabeth Wirfs is survived by 3 children, Dr.
20Bonnie Wirfs, Robert (Cheri) Wirfs, and Carol Ann (Robert)

1Young; 7 grandchildren, Christopher (Jenifer) Wirfs, Carrie
2Wirfs, Sarah (Brian) Oliva, Robert Kendall Young, Claire (Sam)
3Castree, Aaron (Nancy Ma) Gunn, and Matthew Gunn; 5
4great-grandchildren, Madison, Caitlin, Zoe Rose, Percy, and
5Mia Flora; and a sister, Helen Golbeck; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her
8family and friends, mourn the passing of Elizabeth "Sue" Wirfs;
9and be it further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of Elizabeth Wirfs as an expression of
12our sympathy.
