HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate the Marian Central
4Catholic High School volleyball team, the Hurricanes, on
5winning the 2015 Illinois High School Association Class 3A
6State Championship; and
 
7    WHEREAS, After defeating Mascoutah in the semi-final, the
8Hurricanes faced Joliet Catholic in the championship game at
9Redbird Arena on the campus of Illinois State University in
10Bloomington; after being down one game, the Hurricanes showed
11the resilience that had defined their season and came back to
12win the next 2 games 25-18 and 25-12 to win the championship;
13and
 
14    WHEREAS, The Hurricane's title victory capped off an
15amazing 39 and 3 season, which included a 9-2 record in 3 game
16matches; and
 
17    WHEREAS, This is the first State championship for the
18Hurricanes; and
 
19    WHEREAS, The Hurricanes are coached by Elyse Slezak and
20Laura Watling; the players are Grace Biell, Norah Cetera,
21Rachel Giustino, Lauren Hanlon, Emily Hendle, Alex Kaufmann,

1Brenna Koch, Sydney Nemtuda, Rachel Noonan, Emily Radecki,
2Gabbie Rohde, Meghan Schwallie, Lexi Weck, and McKayla Wuensch;
3and
 
4    WHEREAS, The Hurricanes were not only able to show
5excellence on the court, but also in the classroom by achieving
6a 3.9 grade point average while competing at the highest
7athletic level in the State; and
 
8    WHEREAS, The Hurricanes are an example of hard work,
9integrity, and perseverance to the people of the State of
10Illinois; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
12NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
13congratulate the Marian Central Catholic High School
14volleyball team, the Hurricanes, on winning the 2015 Illinois
15High School Association Class 3A State Championship, and we
16wish them continued success in the future; and be it further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the Hurricanes as a symbol of our esteem and
19respect.
