SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Donald E. Nolan of Taylorville, who
4passed away on October 27, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Donald Nolan was born on October 23, 1931 in
6Taylorville; his parents were Edward J. and Elta G. Nolan; he
7married Mary R. Yonikus on November 22, 1958 at St. Mary's
8Church in Assumption; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Donald Nolan attended Bradley University before
10leaving to join the United States Air Force during the Korean
11Conflict; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Donald Nolan was a retired farmer and was
13passionate about agriculture; in 1979, he served as a wagon
14master for Illinois during the "tractorcade" to Washington D.C.
15for the American Agriculture Movement; he was an original board
16member for the Illinois Tractor Pulling Association and was
17well known for competing with his Minneapolis Moline G1000,
18named "Yellow Fever"; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Donald Nolan was a motorsports enthusiast and
20especially enjoyed racing his Triumph motorcycle in the 1950s
21and 1960s; he competed in the Springfield Mile and the Peoria

1Tourist Trophy, among many other races; he also enjoyed
2traveling with his wife in their RV, attending their grandsons'
3activities, and watching the St. Louis Cardinals and the
4Fighting Illini; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Donald Nolan was a member of St. Mary Catholic
6Church in Taylorville and the Knights of Columbus; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Donald Nolan was preceded in death by his parents
8and his sister, Patty Beyers; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Donald Nolan is survived by his wife, Mary Nolan;
10his daughter, Kathy (Mike) Drea; his grandsons, Nolan Drea and
11Ryan Drea; his brother, Larry Nolan; and many nieces and
12nephews; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
15family and friends, mourn the passing of Donald E. Nolan; and
16be it further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Donald Nolan as an expression of our
19sympathy.
