Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Raises the penalty for a violation of the restriction on driving while a license is suspended or revoked if the violation results in an accident that causes bodily injury to a Class 4 felony if the driver has no prior violations, a Class 3 felony if the driver has previously been convicted of violating this Section, and a Class 2 felony if the driver has been convicted of violating this Section on 2 or more prior occasions.

Senate Committee Amendment No. 1
Replaces everything after the enacting clause. Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Raises the penalty for a violation of the restriction on driving while a license is suspended or revoked if the violation results in an accident that causes bodily injury to a Class 4 felony for a second or subsequent violation of this Section. Provides that personal injury includes any Type A injury as indicated on the traffic accident report completed by a law enforcement officer that requires immediate professional attention in either a doctor's office or a medical facility. A Type A injury includes severe bleeding wounds, distorted extremities, and injuries that require the injured party to be carried from the scene.
