Synopsis As Introduced
Provides that the Illinois Department of Transportation: is the designated state safety oversight agency pursuant to specified federal laws: shall comply with state safety oversight requirements of specified federal laws; has the authority to develop, adopt, and implement a system safety program standard and procedures meeting the compliance requirements of specified federal laws for the safety and security of rail fixed guideway public transportation systems within the State; has the authority to establish procedures in accordance with specified federal laws to review, approve, oversee, investigate, audit, and enforce all other necessary and incidental functions related to the effectuation of federal laws pertaining to public transportation safety or security oversight; and may contract for the services of a qualified consultant to comply with specified provisions of federal law. Contains provisions regarding: savings; prior executive orders; severability; and other matters. Effective immediately.
