Synopsis As Introduced
Proposes, under Article V, Section 11 of the Illinois Constitution, to consolidate the Human Rights Commission into the Department of Human Rights and transfer the authority and responsibility for the investigation, adjudication, and enforcement of anti-discrimination laws and equal opportunity and affirmative action compliance to the Department of Human Rights. Contains provisions regarding: transition and transfer of functions; inconsistent laws; reports; savings; prior executive orders; severability; and other matters. Provides that, if neither house of the General Assembly disapproves the Executive Order, the Executive Order takes effect 60 days after its delivery to the General Assembly.
