Synopsis As Introduced
Amends the Medical Assistance Article of the Illinois Public Aid Code. Provides that antipsychotic and anticonvulsant drugs used to treat severe mental illness shall not be subject to prior approval as a result of the 4-prescription limit and shall not count toward the monthly prescription limit when used for the following mental disorders: post-traumatic stress disorder, schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, bipolar disorder, or panic disorder. Effective January 1, 2014.

 Fiscal Note (Dept. of Healthcare & Family Services)
 Passage of this bill creates a potential increase in Healthcare and Family Services cost for antipsychotic and anticonvulsant drugs. FY14 estimate is projected at $4.9 million ($4.1 million adults and $.8 million children). Additional cost is based on FY12 data.
