Synopsis As Introduced
Creates the Task Force on the Efficient Distribution of SNAP Benefits to prepare a report that details how SNAP benefits can be distributed more evenly throughout the month in the State of Illinois.

House Committee Amendment No. 1
Replaces everything after the heading. Adds language regarding the number of Illinois residents that receive Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits, the number of food-insecure Illinois residents that enroll or reenroll in the SNAP program every month, and the amount of money that the SNAP program generates in annual spending, Changes language regarding the operational issues incurred with the SNAP distribution schedule and the USDA's initiative to encourage states to stagger SNAP distribution throughout the month. Changes the name of the Task Force to the Task Force on Hunger and the Efficient Distribution of SNAP Benefits. Removes a person appointed by the Governor to represent a non-profit organization focusing on the full development of children in Illinois and adds a person appointed by the Governor to represent a non-profit organization focusing on ending poverty to the list of appointees to the Task Force. Removes a person appointed by the Governor to represent a food bank that serves a metropolitan area with over one million residents and adds a person represent a food bank that serves a county with over 2 million residents to the list of appointees to the Task Force. Adds software contractors to the list of people to be invited to participate in the Task Force. Changes the goal of the Task Force to preparing a report that details how SNAP benefits can be distributed more evenly throughout the month without increasing hunger in the State.
