HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Alice Green of Okawville
4for being awarded the Devotion to Community Award from the West
5Washington County Progress Initiative; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Alice Green married Richard Green on January 16,
71965; they had three children, Donna, Duane, and the late
8Sandra, and now have seven grandchildren, Andrew, Justin,
9Chelsea, Thomas, Lucas, Jordan, and Garret, and one
10great-grandchild, Brantlee; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Alice Green and Rich have devoted much of their
12free time to the Heritage House Museum Association, which they
13helped found in 1982; and
 
14    WHEREAS, The Heritage House Museum Association has been
15able to purchase and preserve several different historical
16homes to serve as a sense of pride for the community and as an
17attraction for tourists; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Alice Green has served numerous terms on the
19Heritage House Museum Board; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Alice Green helped to create the Heritage Days

1celebration, a two-day event that generates revenue to operate
2and preserve the historical homes operated by the Heritage
3House Museum Association; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Alice Green and Rich help to design and construct
5the Heritage House float for the Okawville Fair and Wheat
6Festival; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Alice Green has helped garner interest among
8Okawville residents in opening their homes for the Christmas
9House tour which benefits the museum association; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Alice Green has owned and operated her own
11decorating business, Greens Decorating, in Okawville since
121986; and
 
13    WHEREAS, After years of community service and running her
14own business, Alice Green has started working part-time to have
15more time at home on her farm and with family; therefore, be it
 
16    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
17HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
18we congratulate and honor Alice Green for her years of
19community service reflected in her nomination for the Devotion
20to Community Award; and be it further

1    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
2presented to Alice Green and her family as an expression of our
3esteem and respect.
