HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Alice Green of Okawville for being awarded the Devotion to Community Award from the West Washington County Progress Initiative; and

WHEREAS, Alice Green married Richard Green on January 16, 1965; they had three children, Donna, Duane, and the late Sandra, and now have seven grandchildren, Andrew, Justin, Chelsea, Thomas, Lucas, Jordan, and Garret, and one great-grandchild, Brantlee; and

WHEREAS, Alice Green and Rich have devoted much of their free time to the Heritage House Museum Association, which they helped found in 1982; and

WHEREAS, The Heritage House Museum Association has been able to purchase and preserve several different historical homes to serve as a sense of pride for the community and as an attraction for tourists; and

WHEREAS, Alice Green has served numerous terms on the Heritage House Museum Board; and

WHEREAS, Alice Green helped to create the Heritage Days celebration, a two-day event that generates revenue to operate and preserve the historical homes operated by the Heritage House Museum Association; and

WHEREAS, Alice Green and Rich help to design and construct the Heritage House float for the Okawville Fair and Wheat Festival; and

WHEREAS, Alice Green has helped garner interest among Okawville residents in opening their homes for the Christmas House tour which benefits the museum association; and

WHEREAS, Alice Green has owned and operated her own decorating business, Greens Decorating, in Okawville since 1986; and

WHEREAS, After years of community service and running her own business, Alice Green has started working part-time to have more time at home on her farm and with family; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate and honor Alice Green for her years of community service reflected in her nomination for the Devotion to Community Award; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Alice Green and her family as an expression of our esteem and respect.
