HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Chuck Scott on the occasion of his retirement after over 34 years of dedicated service to Illinois State University (ISU); and

WHEREAS, Chuck Scott joined ISU in 1985 as director of grounds maintenance and recycling; he has held the positions of director of Campus Services, executive director of Facilities Management, and executive director of Facilities Management, Parking, and Transportation; he was appointed interim associate vice president for Facilities Management, Planning and Operations in August 2017; and

WHEREAS, Chuck Scott was instrumental in the establishment of the ISU campus as an arboretum; today, Fell Arboretum stretches across over 400 acres of the campus and contains approximately 2,000 trees and other plants, all native to Illinois; in 2008, ISU was recognized as a Tree Campus USA by the Arbor Day Foundation and continues to hold the designation today; and

WHEREAS, Chuck Scott has been involved with APPA, an international organization with a focus on educational facilities management, since attending his first conference in 1991; within the next few years, he completed APPA's professional development and leadership programs and then became involved at the regional level; he served as regional president and then joined the APPA International Board of Directors; he was elected vice president for Professional Development and then president in June 2016; and

WHEREAS, Very few people know every square inch of the ISU buildings and its grounds as well as Chuck Scott; his vast institutional knowledge, informed decision-making, and commitment to promoting leadership and professional development are commendable; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Chuck Scott on his retirement after over 34 years of dedicated service to Illinois State University, and we wish him the best in all his future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Chuck Scott as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
