SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Alan "Jack" Diamond of Waukegan, who passed away on May 16, 2020; and

WHEREAS, Jack Diamond was born to Nathan and Ernestine (Choyke) Diamond in Chicago in 1936; he graduated from Waukegan High School and later served in the US Army from 1956 to 1958; he was honorably discharged after a tour of duty in Europe; and

WHEREAS, Jack Diamond began his career with the Lake County Highway Department; he then served as a Deputy Sheriff for the Lake County Sheriff's Office and later held administrative positions with the Illinois Secretary of State and the Illinois State Toll Highway Authority; he retired as the Facility Director at the Ann Kiley Center in Waukegan; and

WHEREAS, Jack Diamond was a proud member of several organizations, including the Medinah Shrine (Lake County Shrine), the Ancient Free & Accepted Masons of IL (Waukegan and Milburn Lodges), the A.A.S.R. Northern Masonic Jurisdiction Valley of Chicago, the Fraternal Order of Eagles, the Loyal Order of Moose, the Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks, the Illinois Police Association, and the Police Association of Cape Coral, Florida; and

WHEREAS, Jack Diamond loved boating, fishing, cruising the Caribbean with family, and riding his Harley; and

WHEREAS, Jack Diamond was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Bruce Diamond; and his ex-sister-in-law, Esterle (Goldberg) Coburn; and

WHEREAS, Jack Diamond is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Ronelle M. (Gannon) Diamond; his daughter, Kimberly Smith (Perry S. Smith, Jr); his grandchild, Jordan A. Smith; his nephew, Paul Diamond; his niece, Sandee (Diamond) Hunt; and his cousins, Dick, Bill, and Jim Choyke; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Alan "Jack" Diamond and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Jack Diamond as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
