SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Patrick Carl Matchette of Winthrop
4Harbor, who passed away on May 20, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Patrick Matchette grew up in Wheaton and served
6five years in the U.S. Navy Reserve; he received his Doctor of
7Veterinary Medicine from the University of Illinois and a
8degree in biochemistry from Purdue University; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Patrick Matchette retired from Abbott
10Laboratories after 20 years with the Agricultural Research and
11Development division; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Patrick Matchette was a scientist, a farmer, a
13master gardener, an avid reader, and a lifelong learner who
14valued education greatly and instilled that love of learning in
15his children; he appreciated humor and always had a pun or joke
16to share; he enjoyed politics, books, history, old western TV
17shows, Cubs baseball, and many other topics; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Patrick Matchette was preceded in death by his
19wife of 41 years, Priscilla (Groustra); and
 
20    WHEREAS, Patrick Matchette is survived by his children,

1Rebecca Matchette (Michael Messina), Roy Matchette (Doreen),
2Ruth Matchette, Gail Matchette, and Audrey Pinto (Tony); his
3grandchildren, Patrick, Evan, Jacob, Caleb, Virginia, Lukas,
4Nina, Marcela, Zachary, and Priscilla; and his
5great-grandchild, Elliot; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
8Patrick Carl Matchette and extend our sincere condolences to
9his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
10further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Patrick Matchette as an expression
13of our deepest sympathy.
