SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Antonia "Toni" Hiroko Wiese of Waukegan, who passed away on July 6, 2019; and

WHEREAS, Toni Wiese was born in Tokyo, Japan to Yasuzo and Kin (Ito) Kawai on January 17, 1933; she married Leroy "Skip" Wiese in Tokyo in 1956, and they made their home in Waukegan; she became a proud citizen of the United States in 1962; and

WHEREAS, Toni Wiese worked as a floral designer for 7 years before purchasing Pierce Florists; she retired after 22 years and pursued her passion of painting; she excelled in her work and won many awards; and

WHEREAS, Toni Wiese was a founding member of St. Dismas Catholic Church and an active member of the Women's Club; she adored her family and looked forward to special occasions and family gatherings; she was kind and generous; and

WHEREAS, Toni Wiese is survived by her husband of 63 years, Leroy; her daughters, Carrie (James) Ware, Christina (Dennis) Heslin, Catherine (Jack) Herman, and Corrinne (Michael) Bleck; her sister, Yoshiko (Masakastu) Nakamori; her 11 grandchildren; and her extended family in the United States and Japan, along with countless friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Antonia "Toni" Hiroko Wiese and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Toni Wiese as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
