SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Scott E. Lawrence of East Moline, who
4passed away on September 21, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Scott Lawrence was born in Hollywood, California
6to Earl and Peggy Lawrence on June 4, 1966; he attended school
7in Upland, California and graduated from Upland High School in
81984; in 1990, he joined the United States Army and served in
9the Gulf War; upon his return to the United States, he settled
10in the Midwest; in 2001, he began his education journey; along
11the way, he married Annette Brauer and became a father of two;
12he received his Doctor of Education from Grand Canyon
13University in 2016; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Scott Lawrence was a professor at Eastern Iowa
15Community College, Black Hawk Community College, and Brown
16Mackie University; teaching was his passion, and he cherished
17the friendships with his peers and his students; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Scott Lawrence's commitment to his faith was heard
19in the music he played and the songs he wrote; he played with
20the contemporary Christian band, Janitors Heart, and the
21bluegrass group, Country Christians; he was an avid fan of the
22Beatles; and

1    WHEREAS, Scott Lawrence was preceded in death by his
2grandmother; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Scott Lawrence is survived by his father, Earl
4Lawrence; his mother, Peggy Rocky; his wife, Annette; his
5children, Oliver and Matilda; his siblings, Brent (Terry)
6Lawrence, Kristen Lawrence, and Amy (Dan) Jordan; several
7nieces and nephews; and special family friend, Charla Miller;
8therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Scott E. Lawrence and extend our sincere condolences to his
12family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
13further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Scott Lawrence as an expression of
16our deepest sympathy.
