SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Edmund Raymond "Zeke" Bratkowski of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, who passed away on November 11, 2019; and

WHEREAS, Zeke Bratkowski was born in Westville to Kasmer and Elizabeth Kraninock Bratkowski on October 20, 1931; he served in the United States Air Force as an aircraft pilot and played college football for the University of Georgia; and

WHEREAS, Zeke Bratkowski played for 14 years in the National Football League as a quarterback for the Los Angeles Rams, the Chicago Bears, and the Green Bay Packers; he was a two-time Super Bowl champion and a three-time National Football Conference champion; and

WHEREAS, Zeke Bratkowski was inducted into the University of Georgia Hall of Fame, the University of Georgia Circle of Honor, the Florida Georgia Hall of Fame, the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame, and the National Polish-American Sports Hall of Fame; and

WHEREAS, Zeke Bratkowski was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather; and

WHEREAS, Zeke Bratkowski was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Stephen Bratkowski; and

WHEREAS, Zeke Bratkowski is survived by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Bratkowski; his son, Bob (Rebecca) Bratkowski; his daughter, Kathryn Bratkowski; his sister, Patricia Stitt; his grandchildren, Shane Bratkowski, Nicolas Bratkowski, and Courtney (Chip) Cowan; and his great-grandchildren, Leo, Violet, Parker, Charleigh, Quinn, and Paige; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Edmund Raymond "Zeke" Bratkowski and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Zeke Bratkowski as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
