SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Ora Lee "Mama Reece" Reece of Chicago, who passed away on December 24, 2019; and

WHEREAS, Ora Reece was born in Sherill, Arkansas to William and Armanda Richardson on August 9, 1940; she was the third of 11 children; she moved to Chicago as a young woman; she married Albert C. Reece Sr. on February 17, 1962; she had a deep faith and was a member of the Joy Fellowship Baptist Church in Chicago; and

WHEREAS, Ora Reece became a licensed cosmetologist/barber at 19 and developed her skills over 30 years; she also worked for the Chicago Public School system and retired after 20 years of service; and

WHEREAS, Ora Reece was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Albert C. Reece Sr.; and

WHEREAS, Ora Reece is survived by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a host of family and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Ora Lee "Mama Reece" Reece and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Ora Reece as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
