HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to recognize achievements in the lives of Illinois citizens; and

WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that Mandy Ellis has been named the 2020 Illinois Elementary School Principal of the Year by Horace Mann and the Illinois Principals Association (IPA); and

WHEREAS, Mandy Ellis has had a positive impact on education and advocacy for children; and

WHEREAS, Mandy Ellis ensures the school climate is positive and reflects high staff and student morale and involves the community with regular communications and an open-door policy; and

WHEREAS, Mandy Ellis works collaboratively with teachers and other staff to improve educational programming; and

WHEREAS, Mandy Ellis has served as principal of Dunlap Grade School for eight years; and

WHEREAS, Mandy Ellis serves as Central Illinois Valley Region State Director and has been a member of the board of directors of the Illinois Principals Association since 2012; and

WHEREAS, Mandy Ellis has been active as a member of the State Superintendent Principal Advisory Committee and a member of the IPA Educational Leaders Annual Conference small group selection committee; and

WHEREAS, Mandy Ellis is an active member of the Peoria community; she served as a past chair of the Peoria Playhouse Children's Committee Capital Campaign, a representative for Peoria during the 2013 campaign to become an All-America City, and a founding member of the Young Professionals of Greater Peoria; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Mandy Ellis on being named the 2020 Illinois Elementary School Principal of the Year; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of the resolution be presented to Mandy Ellis as an expression of our esteem and respect.
