HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, It has come to our attention that the largest and
3 longest continually operating business in downtown Oswego, the
4 Alexander Lumber Company, will be moving out of the village
5 later this year; and
 
6     WHEREAS, The Alexander Lumber Company has operated the
7 Oswego site since May 7, 1930, with a lumber yard having been
8 located on the property since the mid-1870's; and
 
9     WHEREAS, The Oswego site currently covers 2.24 acres and
10 employs 24 full-time workers; it has reached annual sales of
11 $20 million and contributes approximately $200,000 in annual
12 sales tax to the village; and
 
13     WHEREAS, The Alexander Lumber Company has been a good
14 corporate partner and its move is definitely a loss for Oswego;
15 therefore, be it
 
16     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
17 NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
18 we thank the Alexander Lumber Company for their many years of
19 serving the Oswego community and for being a long-time
20 employer; and be it further
 
21     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
22 presented to the Alexander Lumber Company as an expression of
23 our esteem.
