HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, In March 2005, Dr. Lane Abrell was named 2005 High
3 School State Principal of the Year by the Illinois Principals
4 Association, the National Association of Secondary School
5 Principals, and MetLife; and
 
6     WHEREAS, Dr. Abrell is beginning his twentieth year in
7 education and his ninth at Plainfield High School; his career
8 in education includes having been a classroom teacher, athletic
9 coach, dean, assistant principal, and beginning October 23,
10 2000, the principal of Plainfield High School; he is now in
11 charge of 2,600 students, 199 certified staff, and 60 support
12 staff; and
 
13     WHEREAS, He is an alumnus of Western Illinois University,
14 having graduated with a bachelor's degree in education; he
15 earned a master's degree in education administration from
16 Governors State University and a doctorate degree in education
17 administration from Northern Illinois University; and
 
18     WHEREAS, In addition to being an active member in several
19 professional or civic organizations, Dr. Abrell is the State
20 Chairman for the Legislative Committee for the Illinois
21 Principals Association; he enjoys spending time with his
22 family, physical exercise, meeting new people, and being a
23 Chicago Cubs fan; and
 
24     WHEREAS, He is married to Michelle and they have three
25 children, Erik, Parker, and Lauren; therefore, be it
 
26     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
27 NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
28 we congratulate Dr. Lane Abrell on his well-deserved award and
29 commend him for his personal commitment and service to his
30 students, community, and the State of Illinois; and be it
