SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois learned with sadness of the death of Camille Nicole (Comer) Cook of Chicago, formerly of Gary, Indiana, on July 24, 2005; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Cook was born December 4, 1965, in Gary, Indiana, to Carter and Alva Curtis Comer; she married Bruce L. Cook, president of the Cook County Bar Association, in Chicago on May 30, 1998; and

WHEREAS, She graduated from Gary Roosevelt High School in 1984 and later received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Purdue University; she began her professional career as a paralegal with Amoco Corporation and other major law firms; after years spent working in the legal profession, she pursued a career in the pharmaceutical sales industry as a sales representative for several major pharmaceutical companies; and

WHEREAS, Beyond her professional career, she was committed to serving God and her community; as a member of the Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago, she participated actively in the Million for the Master Ministry and was also a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.; and

WHEREAS, The passing of Camille Cook is felt by all who knew and loved her, especially her husband, Bruce; her daughter, Briannah; her stepdaughter, Csone; her mother, Alva Curtis Comer, and father, Carter (Sandy) Comer; her brothers, Tony (Janice) Comer, Carlton (Marilyn) Comer, and Jamie Comer; her sister, Carliese Comer; her mother-in-law, Junerous Cook, and father-in-law, Rufus Cook; her grandmother, Izora Comer; her grandfather, Nebraska (Elizabeth) Curtis; her nieces, Dominique, Antoinette, Colette, and Eden; her nephew, Alexander; and a host of other relatives and friends; and

WHEREAS, She was a vibrant and beautiful woman who had a very giving and loving spirit; the memory of her character, intelligence, and compassion will live on in her loved ones; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we express our deepest regret at the passing of Camille Cook and extend to her family, friends, and community our most sincere condolences; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to her family as an expression of our heartfelt sympathy.
