SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Samuel Oginni of Crystal Lake, who passed
4away on August 10, 2013; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Samuel Oginni was born on March 21, 1954, in
6Nigeria to Titus and Dorcas Oginni; he immigrated to the United
7States and settled in Minnesota; he received his undergraduate
8degree from Bemiji State University and his Master's Degree in
9Business from Morehead State University; he married Sally
10MacArthur on May 8, 1982, in Morehead, Minnesota; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Samuel Oginni worked as a salesman and eventually
12relocated to Crystal Lake, where he became the owner of Crystal
13Lake Pontiac GMC in 1995, which he owned until 2011; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Samuel Oginni liked to give back to his community;
15he established a scholarship at his church in 2001 and became
16the first car dealer to donate a car to Operation Click, a
17program to raise the awareness of the benefits of seat belt
18use; he was an active member of the local Rotary Club from 1995
19to 2011; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Samuel Oginni enjoyed taking family vacations and
21practicing soccer with his children; he was an avid Minnesota

1Vikings fan; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Samuel Oginni was preceded in death by his
3parents; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Samuel Oginni is survived by his wife, Sally; his
5children, Rachel (Steve) Dumas and Rebecca and Samuel Oginni;
6his siblings, Adedemidun, Adesola, Ademalola, Adelola,
7Adefemi, and Adeboyega; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews;
8therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Samuel Oginni, and extend our sincere condolences to his
12family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
13further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Samuel Oginni as an expression of
16our deepest sympathy.
