SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Gussie Lee (nee Bonner) Parker of Beach
4Park, who passed away on September 25, 2013; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Gussie Parker was born on February 14, 1926 in
6Hickman, Kentucky to Eddie and Mattie (nee McBride) Bonner; she
7married Samuel Parker in Canton, Missouri on October 3, 1942;
8they moved to Illinois in 1944 and lived in Zion, Waukegan,
9North Chicago, and eventually Beach Park; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Gussie Parker worked for 29 years as a nursing
11assistant at the Veterans Affairs Hospital in North Chicago and
123 years at Lake County Head Start; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Gussie Parker was preceded in death by her
14parents; her husband, Samuel; her son, Charles; her brothers,
15Eddie, Percy Lee, Matthew, John, Otis, and Joe; and her
16sisters, Queen Ester, Emma, Bertha, Mattie, and Jessie; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Gussie Parker is survived by her sons, Samuel,
18Philip, Dennis, Bart, Lonnie, Danny, Adley, and Ted; her
19daughters, Terry Alhassan, Doris Coles, and LaWana Carter; her
2029 grandchildren; her 21 great-grandchildren; and her
21brothers, Bishop William Bonner, L.T., and Hubert; therefore,

2    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
3ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
4Gussie Lee Parker, and extend our sincere condolences to her
5family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
6further
 
7    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
8presented to the family of Gussie Parker as an expression of
9our deepest sympathy.
