SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Harrison "Gene" Willis of Vernon Hills,
4who passed away on September 28, 2013; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Harrison Willis was born in Ellington, Missouri to
6George and Grace Willis; he served in World War II and was a
7veteran of the "Battle of the Bulge" with the 87th Infantry,
8Golden Acorn Division; he was a retired Senior Chief Petty
9Officer in the Naval Reserves; he retired from the Great Lakes
10Naval Training Center as Chief Crane Operator; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Harrison Willis had a passion for automobiles and
12he was the former secretary and treasurer of the Lake County,
13Illinois Corvette Club; he also enjoyed painting and singing;
14and
 
15    WHEREAS, Harrison Willis was preceded in death by his first
16wife, Georgia (nee Shelby) Willis; his second wife, Katherine
17(nee Corzine) Willis; his parents; and his siblings, Lois,
18Hazel, Volley, Lewis, and Shirley; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Harrison Willis is survived by his children, Joyce
20(Michael) Wade, Rita (James) Bero, and Steven (Billie Jean)
21Willis; his grandchildren, Brent (Cynthia) Wade, Eddie (Mindy)

1Plante, Carson (Brian) Gasner, Dawn Wilkenson, Crystal Willis,
2Melisa (Joe) Wilkenson-Morzuch, and Shelby (Aaron) Gustman;
3his 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews;
4therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
7Harrison "Gene" Willis, and extend our sincere condolences to
8his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
9further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of Harrison Willis as an expression of
12our deepest sympathy.
