SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Robert K. "Lobo" Lane, Sr. of Bloomington, who passed away on December 11, 2013; and

WHEREAS, Robert Lane, Sr. was born on April 18, 1927 in Clinton to Martha Kunkel; he attended Watseka Grade School and high school and graduated from the University of Illinois, where he was a member of Beta Theta Pi and a nominee for Chief Illiniwek; he served in the United Stats Navy; he married Joy Chapman and then Edie Lane in 1968; and

WHEREAS, Robert Lane, Sr. worked as an agent for Mass Mutual for 56 years; and

WHEREAS, Robert Lane, Sr. was a previous member of the Bloomington Country Club, the Jaycees, Ducks Unlimited, the U of I Quarterback Club, and the March of Dimes; he was an avid duck hunter; and

WHEREAS, Robert Lane, Sr. was preceded in death by his mother; his daughter, Sally; and the mother of his children, Joy Chapman; and

WHEREAS, Robert Lane, Sr. is survived by his wife, Edie; his son, Robert K. (Joen) Lane, Jr.; his daughter, Cathy (Stephen, Jr.) Horrell; his grandchildren, Stephen (Kasey) Horrell, III, Michael Horrell, Alex (Laura) Horrell, Robert K. (Michelle) Lane, III, Thomas Jeffrey Lane, Chad Hawkins, and Jeffrey Hawkins; his great-grandson, Stephen Horrell, IV; and his special longtime friend, Dee Willard; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Robert K. "Lobo" Lane, Sr., and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Robert Lane, Sr. as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
