SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Arnet D. Sorters of Marengo, who passed away on December 1, 2014; and

WHEREAS, Arnet Sorters was born in Attica, Indiana on July 17, 1929 to Leo and Genevieve (nee Kirts) Sorters; he served in the United States Air Force in Japan during the Korean War; he married Barbara Hopkins in Riverside, Indiana on February 9, 1949; and

WHEREAS, Arnet Sorters's work with airplanes during his time in the service created a lifelong passion for flying; after returning from the Korean War, he became a pilot for United Airlines, where he worked for 36 years; after his retirement, he and his wife lived in Byron and then Marengo; and

WHEREAS, Arnet Sorters enjoyed fishing, hunting, and golfing; he was knowledgeable on many subjects and Consumer Reports magazine was his Bible, but most of all, he loved his grandkids; and

WHEREAS, Arnet Sorters was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara; his parents; and his son, Mark Sorters; and

WHEREAS, Arnet Sorters is survived by his children, Vicki (Bruce) Volkening and Kurt (Debbie) Sorters; his grandchildren, Dawn, Matthew, Heather, Aryn, James, Ashley, Carissa, and Daniel; his great-grandchildren, Sebastian, Bailey, Payton, Haleigh, Brent, Brady, Gabriel, Jianna, Kenny, Alyssa, Samantha, and Michala; and his brother, Jack (Chris) Sorters; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Arnet D. Sorters, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Arnet Sorters as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
