SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Lewis C. Schacht of Marengo, who passed away on June 30, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Lewis Schacht was born in Woodstock on June 2, 1927 to Lewis A. and Elizabeth (nee Moritz) Schacht; he married Myrna Laechelt on January 28, 1950 in Marengo and served in the United States Army from 1952 to 1954; and

WHEREAS, Lewis Schacht served as a Marengo police officer for a couple of years; he retired from Marengo Steel after 42 years of service; and

WHEREAS, Lewis Schacht was a Lifetime member of the Moose Lodge; he was a master at practical jokes and a member of the early breakfast club at Dino's in Marengo; and

WHEREAS, Lewis Schacht was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Myrna Schacht; and his brother, Russell Schacht; and

WHEREAS, Lewis Schacht is survived by his daughters, Cindy Shadle and Sharon Moloney; his grandchildren, Liz (Mike) Vinik, Katharine (Ryan Gails) Shadle, Joseph (Luciana Beach) Shadle, and Emmett Moloney; his siblings, Carroll Schacht and Elizabeth (Cliff) Mueller; his sister-in-law, Karin Schacht; and his brother-in-law, LeRoy Laechelt; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Lewis C. Schacht, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Lewis Schacht as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
