HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate the faculty, staff, and students of Glenbrook South High School in Glenview on the occasion of being named as the National GRAMMY Signature School by the GRAMMY Foundation; and

WHEREAS, The GRAMMY Signature Schools program was created in 1998 to recognize top U.S. public high schools that are making an outstanding commitment to music education during an academic school year; awards are given annually to schools that maintain high quality music programs that foster and demonstrate the significant role music can play in the lives of their students, even in the face of financial challenges; and

WHEREAS, After being picked as one of 14 finalists in the competition, Glenbrook South High School was picked to be one of three Gold recipients; Glenbrook South was then picked by a panel of top music educators and professionals, the GRAMMY Signature Schools' Blue Ribbon Committee, to be the National GRAMMY Signature School; as winners of the prestigious designation, Glenbrook South High School will receive a $10,000 grant from the GRAMMY Foundation, which will go towards furthering their already fantastic musical program; and

WHEREAS, Glenbrook South High School serves as a shining example of quality music education for the citizens of the State of Illinois, the nation, and the world at large; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the faculty, staff, and students of Glenbrook South High School in Glenview on the occasion of being named as the National GRAMMY Signature School and wish them continued success and happiness in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Glenbrook South High School as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
