SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Dr. Ferd J. Mueller, who passed away on May 8, 2007; and

WHEREAS, Ferd J. Mueller was born on November 30, 1921 in Belleville; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Mueller graduated from Saint Louis University School of Medicine in 1945 and served with the United States Army Medical Corps during World War II; after World War II he practiced general medicine in Odell, Illinois for five years; he completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Saint Louis University Group Hospitals in 1956 and then began his medical practice in Belleville; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Mueller was a proud member of the Saint Louis University Billiken basketball team during his college days; he was a lifelong supporter of Saint Louis University as an honorary member of the DuBourg Society and the Billiken Tip Off Club; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Mueller was chief of staff at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Belleville; he was a member of the St. Clair County Medical Society, the Illinois State Medical Society, the American Medical Association, and the St. Louis GYN Society; he was a past president of the Catholic Physicians and Dental Guild; he was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Belleville and a charter member of the Serra Club of St. Clair County; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Mueller served on the school board of Our Lady Queen of Peace Grade School and the first school board of Althoff Catholic High School; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Mueller was preceded in death by his parents, Ferd E. and Odilia M., nee Lindenberger, Mueller; and

WHEREAS, He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Catherine M., nee Rost, Mueller, whom he married on September 18, 1944; his sons and daughters, Dr. Stephen V. Mueller, Marybeth (Dr. Curt) Ries, Barbara J. Lombardo, Margo A. Mueller, Dr. Ferd J. Jr. (Allison) Mueller, Michael W. Mueller, Mark C. Mueller, and Tom M. Mueller; his sister, Marilyn E. Louraine Rowan; his 17 grandchildren; and his four great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Dr. Ferd J. Mueller; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Dr. Ferd J. Mueller as a symbol of our sympathy.
