SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Timothy Palen Sr. of Fosterburg, who passed away on March 28, 2008; and

WHEREAS, Timothy Palen Sr. was born on July 13, 1949 in Akron, Ohio; his parents were Edward and Eileen (Jensen) Palen; he married the former Linda Mollet on February 17, 1968 in Alton; and

WHEREAS, Timothy Palen Sr. retired as a casework supervisor with the Illinois Department of Corrections after 18 years of dedicated service; and

WHEREAS, Timothy Palen Sr. was a member of Emmanuel Free Methodist Church in Alton; he was well known in his community as a coach, referee, musician, substitute teacher, and election judge; and

WHEREAS, Timothy Palen Sr. was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Edward "Chip" Palen; and his sister, Sally Rosack; and

WHEREAS, Timothy Palen Sr. is survived by his wife; his daughters and son-in-law, Lisa and Todd Stendeback and Nicole Palen; his sons and their wives, Timothy and Chiyo Palen Jr. and Stephen and Stephanie Palen; his cherished grandchildren, Brandon, Josh, Jacob, and Abby Palen, Amanda, Jordan, T.J., Jennifer, and Ana Palen, Michael, Samantha, and James Stendeback, and Tony, Amira, and Aramon Dobbins; his three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Dr. James E. and Shirley Palen, Mike and Sandy Palen, and Joe Palen; and his two sisters and brother-in-law, Diane and Jim Bock and Eileen Palen; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Timothy Palen Sr.; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Timothy Palen Sr. as an expression of our sympathy.
