SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Clarence "Clancy" A. Groblewski of North Chicago, who passed away on February 27, 2008; and

WHEREAS, He was born March 11, 1925 and remained a life-long resident of North Chicago; he proudly served in the United States Army during World War II in the 170th Field Artillery Battalion in the European theater; he was a true patriot and remained red, white, and blue his entire life and flew his American flag every chance he got; and

WHEREAS, After returning from his war-time duties in February 1946, he became engaged to the love of his life Marie (Stimac); they were married on May 3, 1947 and had three terrific and loving children; they enjoyed 60 wonderful years together and celebrated the occasion with another memorable family vacation with their kids on an Alaskan cruise; and

WHEREAS, He was employed for 30 years by the United States Naval Department, Naval Printing & Publications at Great Lakes, first as a printer and then as a shop planner; he also worked part-time in his family's business, Ratajack's on 14th Street in North Chicago, as one of the establishment's most popular bartenders; he was a die-hard Cubs, Bears, and Notre Dame fan; and

WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Madeline (Ratajack) Groblewski, and his brother, Mitchell; and

WHEREAS, Clancy Groblewski is survived by his wife, Marie; his three children, Kathy (Jim) Guenther, Mickey, and Renee (Doug) Zahery; his four grandchildren, Tammi Korblick, Andy (Krista) Guenther; Chris Groblewski, and Kelley Guenther; his two great-grandchildren, Cecilia Marie and Paige McKenzie; his brother, Chester; and his numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Clarence "Clancy" Groblewski; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Clarence "Clancy" Groblewski as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
