| SENATE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 |
| learn of the death of former Illinois Senate doorkeeper Edward | 4 |
| H. Sauer of Springfield, who passed away on October 27, 2007; | 5 |
| and
| 6 |
| WHEREAS, He was born June 1, 1934, in Spaulding, the son of | 7 |
| Edward and Edith M. Schewe Sauer; he married Nancy Foreman on | 8 |
| October 20, 1956; and
| 9 |
| WHEREAS, Mr. Sauer was a lifelong resident of Springfield; | 10 |
| he worked for the Springfield Police Department, joining it on | 11 |
| June 14, 1956, and retiring on May 2, 1988; he was a motorcycle | 12 |
| officer, patrolman, beat cop, and then worked in the towing | 13 |
| division; he served as Doorkeeper for the Illinois Senate from | 14 |
| 1995 to 2007; and

| WHEREAS, He attended Immanuel Lutheran Church in Riverton; | 16 |
| he was a member of Illinois Police Association, Police | 17 |
| Benevolent Association, Aqua Sports Club, and Eagles Aerie 437, | 18 |
| where he was a trustee; he enjoyed fishing, gardening, NASCAR, | 19 |
| and playing shuffleboard; and
| 20 |
| WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents; and

| WHEREAS, Surviving are his wife, Nancy Sauer; his two | 2 |
| daughters, Patti L. Sauer (partner, Kim Smith) and Toni M. | 3 |
| (husband, Michael) Mitchell; his son, Edward W. (wife, Julie) | 4 |
| Sauer; his seven grandchildren, Stephen, Erica, and Madison | 5 |
| Sauer and Mykayla, Marcus, Mackenzie, and Madilyn Mitchell; his | 6 |
| two sisters, Clara Wright and Edith A. (husband, Lee) Hooper; | 7 |
| and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; therefore, be it
| 8 |
| RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL | 9 |
| ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with | 10 |
| his family and friends, the passing of Edward H. Sauer; and be | 11 |
| it further
| 12 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 13 |
| presented to the family of Edward H. Sauer as a symbol of our | 14 |
| sincere sympathy.
