SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Helen C. Zdanowicz (nee Wasniewski) of
4 Brandon, Florida, formerly of North Chicago, who passed away on
5 April 4, 2008; and
 
6     WHEREAS, She was born on October 19, 1906, in Chicago, to
7 Frank and Monica Wasniewski; she married Casimir Zdanowicz on
8 April 28, 1926 at Holy Rosary Church in North Chicago; and
 
9     WHEREAS, She was a member of Queen of Peace Church and a
10 former member of Holy Rosary Church, the Ladies Rosary
11 Sodality, and Apostleship of Prayer; and
 
12     WHEREAS, She was an avid card and bingo player when she was
13 younger; she was an excellent cook and baker of Polish food;
14 she helped raise her grandchildren, who called her Nana; and
15 she and her husband once owned a cafe on Sheridan Road in North
16 Chicago; and
 
17     WHEREAS, She was preceded in death by her grandson, Glenn
18 Jahnke; her son, Roy Zdanowicz; her husband, Casimir; her
19 sisters, Martha (Paul) Populorum, Lucille (Tony) Humecko,
20 Lillian (Larry) Seefeldt, and Irene (Bill) Galloway; her
21 brothers, John (Margaret) Wasniewski, Frank (Clara)

1 Wasniewski, Henry (Marie) Wasniewski, Leo (Helen) Wasniewski,
2 and Alex (Lillian) Wasniewski; her parents; and her
3 grandmother, Cecelia Kopicki; and
 
4     WHEREAS, The passing of Helen C. Zdanowicz will be deeply
5 felt by those who survive her, including her daughter, Lorraine
6 (Zdanowicz) Jahnke; her granddaughters, Lynn Jahnke (Bruce
7 Snyder) and Susan Jahnke; her grandsons, Neal (Fran) Jahnke,
8 Mark Jahnke, and David (Susan G.) Jahnke; her
9 great-grandchildren, Sara, Eric, Erin, Paul, Alex, Greg
10 (Lauren), Maureen, and Austin; her caregivers, Irena Trafas and
11 Danuta Widlak; her spiritual advisor Monsignor Scully and
12 Eucharistic Minister Marki Tauceda; therefore, be it
 
13     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL
14 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
15 her family and friends, the passing of Helen C. Zdanowicz; and
16 be it further
 
17     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18 presented to the family of Helen C. Zdanowicz as a symbol of
19 our sincere sympathy.
