SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Helen C. Zdanowicz (nee Wasniewski) of Brandon, Florida, formerly of North Chicago, who passed away on April 4, 2008; and

WHEREAS, She was born on October 19, 1906, in Chicago, to Frank and Monica Wasniewski; she married Casimir Zdanowicz on April 28, 1926 at Holy Rosary Church in North Chicago; and

WHEREAS, She was a member of Queen of Peace Church and a former member of Holy Rosary Church, the Ladies Rosary Sodality, and Apostleship of Prayer; and

WHEREAS, She was an avid card and bingo player when she was younger; she was an excellent cook and baker of Polish food; she helped raise her grandchildren, who called her Nana; and she and her husband once owned a cafe on Sheridan Road in North Chicago; and

WHEREAS, She was preceded in death by her grandson, Glenn Jahnke; her son, Roy Zdanowicz; her husband, Casimir; her sisters, Martha (Paul) Populorum, Lucille (Tony) Humecko, Lillian (Larry) Seefeldt, and Irene (Bill) Galloway; her brothers, John (Margaret) Wasniewski, Frank (Clara) Wasniewski, Henry (Marie) Wasniewski, Leo (Helen) Wasniewski, and Alex (Lillian) Wasniewski; her parents; and her grandmother, Cecelia Kopicki; and

WHEREAS, The passing of Helen C. Zdanowicz will be deeply felt by those who survive her, including her daughter, Lorraine (Zdanowicz) Jahnke; her granddaughters, Lynn Jahnke (Bruce Snyder) and Susan Jahnke; her grandsons, Neal (Fran) Jahnke, Mark Jahnke, and David (Susan G.) Jahnke; her great-grandchildren, Sara, Eric, Erin, Paul, Alex, Greg (Lauren), Maureen, and Austin; her caregivers, Irena Trafas and Danuta Widlak; her spiritual advisor Monsignor Scully and Eucharistic Minister Marki Tauceda; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Helen C. Zdanowicz; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Helen C. Zdanowicz as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
