SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3 learn of the death of Enola Anna Dew, of Chicago, Illinois, who
4 passed away on November 12, 2006; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Enola Dew was born on December 26, 1923 on a
6 plantation near Loreauville, Louisiana; her parents were
7 Joseph Hilliard and Mary Dominque; and
 
8     WHEREAS, Enola Dew grew up in New Iberia, Louisiana; she
9 graduated from St. Edward School and Iberia Parish Training
10 School; during World War II, she moved to Texas and worked in
11 the war factories; she was very supportive of her family
12 members who served in the military; and
 
13     WHEREAS, She moved to Chicago in the early 1940s and
14 married Willie Maurice Dew on December 27, 1952; she was
15 employed with the Cook County Hospital, St. Malachy Church, the
16 United States Post Office, Mile Square Health Center, and Rush
17 University Medical Center; she also performed domestic work and
18 private duty home health nursing after retirement; and
 
19     WHEREAS, She worked with the Board of Election
20 Commissioners and St. Malachy's Women's Auxiliary and marched
21 with Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., when he would come to

1 Chicago; and
 
2     WHEREAS, Enola A. Dew will be remembered by all her knew
3 and loved her, especially her sons, Willie, Donald, and Gerald;
4 her grandchildren, Coninyah, Akiyah, Daniel, Bryant, Samuel,
5 Brandon, Cuatasha, Arika, Jerrard, Mamie, Michael, Yulonda,
6 and Adia; her great-grandchildren; her daughter-in-law,
7 Yulonda; her brothers, Joseph and Alvin; her sisters, Mary,
8 Harriet, and Madlaine; and her brothers-in-law,
9 sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and
10 friends; she was preceded in death by her parents; her husband,
11 Willie M. Dew, Sr.; her brothers, Alton, Leo, and Carol; and
12 her sister, Veronica; therefore, be it
 
13     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL
14 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we extend our
15 condolences to the family and friends of Enola Anna Dew; and be
16 it further
 
17     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18 presented to the family of Enola Anna Dew.
