SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Edward Frank Lewakowski of McHenry, who passed away on January 16, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Edward Lewakowski was born on December 21, 1932 in Chicago; his parents were John Z. and Irene (nee Lasecki) Lewakowski; he married Georgette N. (nee Grasser) Calcese on December 31, 1977 in Las Vegas, Nevada; and

WHEREAS, Edward Lewakowski was raised in Chicago and was a summer resident of McHenry for many years; he became a year-round resident of McHenry in the 1970s; and

WHEREAS, Edward Lewakowski served his country as a member of the United States Army during the Korean War; and

WHEREAS, Edward Lewakowski enjoyed a long career as an officer with the Berwyn Police Department; after leaving the department, he began Lew's Trucking in Berwyn in the early 1970s; he owned the company until selling it in 1977; and

WHEREAS, Edward Lewakowski enjoyed boating, golfing, and flying his private plane, a Cessna 172, out of the Westosha Airport; and

WHEREAS, Edward Lewakowski was a member of Moose Lodge 691, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4600, the McHenry Lions Club, American Legion Post 491, and Polish Legion of American Veterans Post 188; and

WHEREAS, Edward Lewakowski was preceded in death by a son, Anthony Calcese, and a grandson, Joseph; and

WHEREAS, Edward Lewakowski is survived by his wife of 37 years, Georgette; 3 children, Edward Lewakowski, Joseph (Cheryl) Calcese, and Candace (Brian) Opon; and a granddaughter, Cristy Calcese; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Edward Frank Lewakowski; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Edward Lewakowski as an expression of our sympathy.
