HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to honor Dr. Melvin D. Wichter, MD, for his commitment to Advocate Christ Medical Center and Advocate Hope Children's Hospital; and

WHEREAS, He has been an invaluable part of Advocate Christ Medical Center for 35 years; and

WHEREAS, He is a board-certified neurologist; he chairs the department of neurology and the Neurosciences Institute Foundation Council; he pioneered the stroke center at Advocate Christ Medical Center; he also manages the stroke program for the entire Advocate system; and

WHEREAS, His clinical expertise includes the treatment and prevention of strokes, neuro-intensive care management, and coma and biomedical ethics; his extensive research interests include stroke and bioethics and the diagnosis of brain death; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Wichter is a professor of clinical neurology at the University of Illinois College of Medicine and has received numerous awards, including 14 teacher of the year honors; Dr. Wichter was also named one of the U.S. News and World Reports Top Doctors of 2011; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Wichter was instrumental in helping raise philanthropic funds to build the Clinical Education Auditorium and Conference Center at Advocate Christ Medical Center; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we honor Dr. Melvin Wichter and thank him for his commitment to Advocate Christ Medical Center and Advocate Hope Children's Hospital; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Dr. Melvin Wichter as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
