HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are pleased to honor Dr. Melvin D. Wichter, MD,
4for his commitment to Advocate Christ Medical Center and
5Advocate Hope Children's Hospital; and
 
6    WHEREAS, He has been an invaluable part of Advocate Christ
7Medical Center for 35 years; and
 
8    WHEREAS, He is a board-certified neurologist; he chairs the
9department of neurology and the Neurosciences Institute
10Foundation Council; he pioneered the stroke center at Advocate
11Christ Medical Center; he also manages the stroke program for
12the entire Advocate system; and
 
13    WHEREAS, His clinical expertise includes the treatment and
14prevention of strokes, neuro-intensive care management, and
15coma and biomedical ethics; his extensive research interests
16include stroke and bioethics and the diagnosis of brain death;
17and
 
18    WHEREAS, Dr. Wichter is a professor of clinical neurology
19at the University of Illinois College of Medicine and has
20received numerous awards, including 14 teacher of the year
21honors; Dr. Wichter was also named one of the U.S. News and

1World Reports Top Doctors of 2011; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Dr. Wichter was instrumental in helping raise
3philanthropic funds to build the Clinical Education Auditorium
4and Conference Center at Advocate Christ Medical Center;
5therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
7NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
8we honor Dr. Melvin Wichter and thank him for his commitment to
9Advocate Christ Medical Center and Advocate Hope Children's
10Hospital; and be it further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to Dr. Melvin Wichter as a symbol of our respect and
13esteem.
