HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Laurel Hill School on the occasion of its 50th anniversary celebration; and

WHEREAS, The celebration will take place on October 20, 2012; the school was founded in 1962; the program will have activities for the children during the day and the parents in the evening; and

WHEREAS, Laurel Hill School has 500 students in 21 classrooms from Kindergarten through 6th grade; it is in the Elgin School District No. 46; and

WHEREAS, Laurel Hill School encourages a system of Positive Behaviors and Interventions Systems (PBIS); the staff, families, and the rest of the school community are deeply committed to ensuring the success of all students; the staff prepares students for college and career readiness standards; and

WHEREAS, Laurel Hill School is a neighborhood school that enables many students to walk to and from class each day; the school has close affiliations with other organizations in the community, including the YWCA, Hanover Township, Greater Elgin Health Clinic, Christ Presbyterian Church, and Crossroads Church; and

WHEREAS, The principal of Laurel Hill School is Patricia Stubbs; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the Laurel Hill School on the 50th anniversary of its founding; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Laurel Hill School as an expression of our esteem and respect.
