HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Diana M. Law on the occasion of being selected to serve as president of the Kane County Bar Association; and

WHEREAS, Diana Law is a partner in the Aurora elder law firm of Law ElderLaw, LLP, a practice that focuses on serving seniors and those who love them; she serves as the manager of the firm's legal team and works on cases involving guardianship, estate planning, special needs trusts, nursing home Medicaid advocacy, wartime veterans' long term care benefits, trust/estate/probate/guardianship litigation, and probate administration; and

WHEREAS, Diana Law is the president-elect of the 1,345-member Kane County Bar Association (KCBA); she will be installed as the youngest president in the history of the association on June 2, 2011; and

WHEREAS, Diana Law is the co-chair of the KCBA Delivery of Legal Services/Pro Bono Committee; as a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA), she frequently serves on the planning committee for their national conferences; she also actively serves on the Illinois State Bar Association's Elder Law Council and Women and the Law Committee; and

WHEREAS, Diana Law is a highly regarded presenter of continuing legal education seminars for the Illinois State Bar Association, the Chicago Bar Association, the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, the Kane County Bar Association, the McHenry County Bar Association, and the Joint Task Force for Women as They Age; she has also enjoyed presenting seminars to hospital and nursing home staffs, financial advisors, and social workers; and

WHEREAS, Diana Law serves as co-chair of the Task Force for Senior Fairness, a task force comprised of elder law firms throughout Illinois and the Cook County Public Guardian's Office; the organization seeks to provide political advocacy to safeguard Illinois citizens who may need Medicaid nursing home benefits; and

WHEREAS, Diana Law was named the Illinois State Bar Association's Young Lawyer of the Year for 2010, an award given to only two individuals each year; she has been selected in a statewide survey of Illinois attorneys as a "Super Lawyer Rising Star" in elder law; she was also selected as a top elder law attorney for 2010-2011 by the Leading Lawyers Network; and

WHEREAS, Diana Law serves as a model of hard work, integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of Illinois; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Diana M. Law on the occasion of being selected to serve as president of the Kane County Bar Association and wish her continued success in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Diana Law as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
