HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate the administration, teachers, and students of Glenbrook South High School in Glenview on the occasion of the school's 50th anniversary; and

WHEREAS, The 50th anniversary of Glenbrook South High School will be honored during the 50th Golden Gala V-Show on February 25, 2012 at the David P. Pasquini Fieldhouse/Auditorium; Glenbrook South will also host a year's worth of activities to commemorate this milestone event; and

WHEREAS, Glenbrook South High School continues to demonstrate its commitment to educational excellence by placing in the top 94th percentile nationwide for ACT scores and receiving awards for Principal of the Year from the Illinois Principals Association and 2 Presidential Awards for Excellence in Teaching Mathematics and Science; Glenbrook South is also among the first schools in the nation to receive the Excellence in Education Award from the United States Department of Education; and

WHEREAS, Glenbrook South High School is proudly represented by such distinguished alumni as Tony Award-nominated actor and writer Arian Moayed, Emmy-winning writer/producer Steven Levitan, Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Patrick Stump, and bronze medalist speed skater Lana Gehring; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the administration, teachers, and students of Glenbrook South High School on the occasion of the school's 50th anniversary and wish them continued success and happiness in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Glenbrook South High School as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
