HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, America's Blood Centers (ABC) is North America's largest network of community-based, independent, non-profit blood centers; and

WHEREAS, America's Blood Centers was founded in 1962 in Scottsdale, Arizona by a group of independent community blood centers, with the mission of helping member blood centers serve their communities; and

WHEREAS, The members of America's Blood Centers provide half of the U.S. blood supply and a quarter of the Canadian blood supply; and

WHEREAS, The members of America's Blood Centers serve more than 150 million patients by providing blood products to more than 3,500 hospitals and health facilities throughout North America; and

WHEREAS, For the past 50 years, America's Blood Centers has provided its members with opportunities to share its best practices and collaborate to help them effectively manage the organizations that help save or sustain the lives of millions of patients; and

WHEREAS, In 2002, the Illinois Coalition of Community Blood Centers (ICCBC), based on the model of America's Blood Centers, was founded in Springfield as the first state-wide association of community blood centers in the nation; and

WHEREAS, Since 2002, the Illinois Coalition of Community Blood Centers has effectively served its mission of advocacy and raising public awareness for the need for voluntary blood donations; and

WHEREAS, All of the members of the Illinois Coalition of Community Blood Centers are active members of America's Blood Centers; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the members of America's Blood Centers on the occasion of its 50th anniversary and thank the organization for its 50 years of service and commitment to a safe and adequate blood supply for our nation; and be it further

RESOLVED, That we congratulate the members of the Illinois Coalition of Community Blood Centers on its 10th anniversary and thank the organization for the decade of service and commitment to a safe and adequate blood supply for our State; and be it further

RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be presented to America's Blood Centers and the Illinois Coalition of Community Blood Centers.
