HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The Junior Leagues of Champaign-Urbana and Kane & DuPage Counties Inc., in conjunction with the Chicago Metro AEYC, the Illinois AEYC, the National Association for the Education of Young Children, and other local organizations focused on early childhood literacy, are celebrating the Week of the Young Child from April 22-28, 2012; and

WHEREAS, These organizations are working to improve early learning opportunities, including early literacy programs, that can provide a foundation of learning for children in Illinois; and

WHEREAS, Teachers and others who make a difference in the lives of young children in Illinois deserve thanks and recognition; and

WHEREAS, Public policies that support early learning for all young children are crucial to young children's futures; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we designate the week of April 22-28, 2012 as the Week of the Young Child in the State of Illinois and encourage all citizens to work to make a good investment in early childhood in Illinois; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be delivered to each school district in this State.
