    Amends the School Code. Makes a technical change in a Section concerning before and after school programs.

1    AN ACT concerning education.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The School Code is amended by changing Section
510-22.18b as follows:
 
6    (105 ILCS 5/10-22.18b)  (from Ch. 122, par. 10-22.18b)
7    Sec. 10-22.18b. Before and after school programs. To
8develop and and maintain before school and after school
9programs for students in kindergarten through the 6th grade.
10Such programs may include time for homework, physical exercise,
11afternoon nutritional snacks and educational offerings which
12are in addition to those offered during the regular school day.
13The chief administrator in each district shall be a certified
14teacher or a person who meets the requirements for supervising
15a day care center under the Child Care Act of 1969. Individual
16programs shall be coordinated by certified teachers or by
17persons who meet the requirements for supervising a day care
18center under the Child Care Act of 1969. Additional employees
19who are not so qualified may also be employed for such
20programs.
21    The schedule of these programs may follow the work calendar
22of the local community rather than the regular school calendar.
23Parents or guardians of the participating students shall be

1responsible for providing transportation for the students to
2and from the programs. The school board may charge parents of
3participating students a fee, not to exceed the actual cost of
4such before and after school programs.
