1    AN ACT concerning elections.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Election Code is amended by adding Sections
57-10.4, 8-8.2, and 10-5.2 as follows:
 
6    (10 ILCS 5/7-10.4 new)
7    Sec. 7-10.4. Petition for nomination; minimum number of
8signatures. Each petition for nomination shall include an
9affidavit signed by the candidate, under oath, stating that the
10petition contains no fewer than the minimum number of
11signatures specified in Section 7-10. The State Board of
12Elections and the various election authorities and local
13election officials with whom the petition for nomination would
14otherwise be filed may not accept for filing any petition for
15nomination that does not include the affidavit required under
16this Section. The affidavit shall not be deemed to be an
17affirmation that all of the signatures are valid.

7    Sec. 10-5.2. Petition for nomination; minimum number of
8signatures. Each petition for nomination shall include an
9affidavit signed by the candidate, under oath, stating that the
10petition contains no fewer than the minimum number of
11signatures specified in Section 10-2, 10-3, or 10-3.1, as may
12be appropriate. The State Board of Elections and the various
13election authorities and local election officials with whom the
14petition for nomination would otherwise be filed may not accept
15for filing any petition for nomination that does not include
16the affidavit required under this Section. The affidavit shall
17not be deemed to be an affirmation that all of the signatures
18are valid.
