| 2 | | WHEREAS, State Senator Christine J. Johnson has | 3 | | represented the citizens of Winnebago, Boone,
Ogle, DeKalb, and | 4 | | LaSalle County with distinction in the Senate for 2 years; and | 5 | | WHEREAS, Senator Johnson's priorities have always been | 6 | | those of the people she
represents - promoting fiscal | 7 | | responsibility, the protecting personal liberties, and | 8 | | improving educational opportunities for all Illinois students; | 9 | | and | 10 | | WHEREAS, Senator Johnson became a lawmaker to make the | 11 | | State of Illinois a better
place for current and future | 12 | | citizens to live, work, raise a family, and start and grow a | 13 | | business; and | 14 | | WHEREAS, Senator Johnson most recently served as | 15 | | Republican Spokesman of the Senate Higher
Education Committee, | 16 | | as member of the Senate Education Committee, as member of the
| 17 | | Senate Licensed Activities Committee, and as member of the | 18 | | Senate Public Health
Committee; and | 19 | | WHEREAS, Senator Johnson worked on several legislative | 20 | | measures, including service
on the P-20 Council on Education | 21 | | and the Legislative Medicaid
Advisory Committee to create |

| 1 | | Medicaid reform; and | 2 | | WHEREAS, A number of local and state organizations have | 3 | | recognized Senator Johnson for her legislative work, including | 4 | | the Illinois Public Transportation Association
as Legislator | 5 | | of the Year, the Illinois Association of Regional Offices of | 6 | | Education-Area
2 for outstanding service, and the Illinois Farm | 7 | | Bureau; and | 8 | | WHEREAS, Senator Johnson has been involved in many civic | 9 | | and charitable
organizations, including the Illinois County | 10 | | Treasurers' Association, the DeKalb County
Crime Stoppers | 11 | | Board, the Rotary Club, the Indian Creek Education Foundation | 12 | | Board,
the Kishwaukee Health Foundation Board, the Kishwaukee | 13 | | United Way Board, the
American Red Cross and Meals on Wheels | 14 | | program; and | 15 | | WHEREAS, Senator Johnson has been recognized for her | 16 | | efforts in her community,
including being named a Paul Harris | 17 | | Fellow by Rotary International and receiving the Northern | 18 | | Illinois
University College Republican's Conservative Leader | 19 | | award, the Illinois County
Treasurer Association's Treasurer | 20 | | of the Year award, and the Zone IV County Treasurer
of the Year | 21 | | award; and | 22 | | WHEREAS, Senator Johnson served as the DeKalb County |

| 1 | | Treasurer from 1994 to February 2011;
and | 2 | | WHEREAS, Senator Johnson was born on March 14, 1960; she | 3 | | graduated from Shabbona High School; and
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Senator Johnson earned a bachelor of arts degree | 5 | | from Northern Illinois University in
Journalism and Public | 6 | | Relations; and
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Senator Johnson is the only graduate of Northern | 8 | | Illinois University to
represent the main campus in the | 9 | | Illinois Senate; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Senator Johnson and her husband, James, have been | 11 | | married since 1983, and have one
child; and
| 12 | | WHEREAS, In her 2 years as a senator, Senator Johnson has | 13 | | represented her
constituents with diligence and grace; and
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Lawmakers and staff alike appreciate Senator | 15 | | Johnson for her zeal and
passion for the people in her district | 16 | | and the State; therefore, be it
| 17 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL | 18 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Senator | 19 | | Johnson
on her retirement from the Illinois General Assembly |

dedicated service; and be it | 2 | | further
| 3 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 4 | | presented to
