SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Rosemary DeBartolo, who passed away on October 23, 2011; and

WHEREAS, Rosemary DeBartolo was born May 8, 1924, in Joliet; and

WHEREAS, Rosemary DeBartolo graduated valedictorian of her class from St. Francis Academy in Joliet and summa cum laude and valedictorian of her class from St. Mary's College in South Bend, Indiana; after graduation, she taught in Batavia until her marriage; and

WHEREAS, Rosemary DeBartolo volunteered her time at Provena Mercy Hospital; she also served as a substitute teacher at Holy Angels Grade School; and

WHEREAS, Rosemary DeBartolo modeled at many charity events; she won the prize as "Best Model in the Show" at the 4th Annual Woman's Auxiliary of Grant Hospital in Chicago, representing St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Aurora; and

WHEREAS, Rosemary DeBartolo was an active member of Holy Angels Church since 1946; she was a member of the St. Anne's Society of Holy Angels Church and served as General Chairman for numerous functions; she was an active participant in her community, with memberships in the Aurora Chapter of the Alumnae of St. Mary's College in Notre Dame, Indiana, the Kane County Medical Society Auxiliary, the St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary, and the Marmion Mother's Club; she was also a former chairman of the Mercy Ball and a member of the Aurora Country Club; and

WHEREAS, Rosemary DeBartolo enjoyed playing bridge, gardening, spending time with her family and friends, studying the stock market, cooking, reading, and traveling with her husband; she was also an avid Chicago Bears, Chicago Cubs, and Notre Dame fan; and

WHEREAS, Rosemary DeBartolo was preceded in death by her loving husband, Dr. Hansel DeBartolo Sr.; her parents, Atty P. Francis and Fanne C. Boetto; and her brother, Atty Dominic Boetto; and

WHEREAS, Rosemary DeBartolo is survived by her children, Dr. Hansel (Susan) DeBartolo Jr., Michele DeBartolo, and Dr. Daniel DeBartolo; and her grandchildren, Dr. Dore, Hansel III, Dr. Merrit (Shanila), Janae, Raquel, Daniel, Joseph, Edward "Teddy", and Gia; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Rosemary DeBartolo; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Rosemary DeBartolo as an expression of our sympathy.
