SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Wilma Quartly Smyth Sachen, who passed away on February 1, 2012; and

WHEREAS, Wilma Sachen was born in Adams County, Iowa, on August 10, 1929; her parents were William Quartly Smyth and Pearl Bixler Smyth; she attended Aurora College, where she met her devoted husband, Leroy Sachen; and

WHEREAS, Wilma Sachen was employed at a telephone company while caring for her son and daughter; she later graduated from Northern Illinois University and taught grade school for 10 years at Smith and McCleery Elementary Schools; she subsequently worked as a real estate broker and property manager at Sachen Realty Company; and

WHEREAS, Wilma Sachen enjoyed working, keeping busy with projects and jobs, games, crafts, puzzles, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends; and

WHEREAS, Wilma Sachen belonged to and participated in various clubs and organizations, including the Aurora Women's Club, the American Association of University Women, and Aurora Republican Women; and

WHEREAS, Wilma Sachen was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Olive Beecher; and

WHEREAS, Wilma Sachen is survived by her husband, Leroy J. Sachen; her son, Joseph L. (Mary Pierceall) Sachen; her daughter, Jacquelyn (Charles T.) Turner; her grandchildren, Brandy (Chris) Wegman, Kyle Turner, and Kevin Turner; her great-granddaughter, Brooke Wegman; her sisters, Helen King, Pearl Dixon, Isabel Sullivan, and Gwen Hughes; her brother-in-law, Earle Beecher; and her many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of Wilma Quartly Smyth Sachen; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Wilma Sachen as an expression of our sympathy.
