SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Wilma Quartly Smyth Sachen, who passed
4away on February 1, 2012; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Wilma Sachen was born in Adams County, Iowa, on
6August 10, 1929; her parents were William Quartly Smyth and
7Pearl Bixler Smyth; she attended Aurora College, where she met
8her devoted husband, Leroy Sachen; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Wilma Sachen was employed at a telephone company
10while caring for her son and daughter; she later graduated from
11Northern Illinois University and taught grade school for 10
12years at Smith and McCleery Elementary Schools; she
13subsequently worked as a real estate broker and property
14manager at Sachen Realty Company; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Wilma Sachen enjoyed working, keeping busy with
16projects and jobs, games, crafts, puzzles, traveling, and
17spending time with her family and friends; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Wilma Sachen belonged to and participated in
19various clubs and organizations, including the Aurora Women's
20Club, the American Association of University Women, and Aurora
21Republican Women; and

1    WHEREAS, Wilma Sachen was preceded in death by her parents
2and her sister, Olive Beecher; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Wilma Sachen is survived by her husband, Leroy J.
4Sachen; her son, Joseph L. (Mary Pierceall) Sachen; her
5daughter, Jacquelyn (Charles T.) Turner; her grandchildren,
6Brandy (Chris) Wegman, Kyle Turner, and Kevin Turner; her
7great-granddaughter, Brooke Wegman; her sisters, Helen King,
8Pearl Dixon, Isabel Sullivan, and Gwen Hughes; her
9brother-in-law, Earle Beecher; and her many nieces and nephews;
10therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with
13his family and friends, the passing of Wilma Quartly Smyth
14Sachen; and be it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Wilma Sachen as an expression of our
17sympathy.
