SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois General Assembly are
3proud to honor those who have given their lives in the defense
4of our nation; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Cpl. Robert D. Janssen was born in Bloomington to
6Arthur G. and Eva Johnson Janssen on January 6, 1948; he
7graduated from Minonk-Dana-Rutland High School in 1966 and
8worked for B.F. Goodrich; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Cpl. Janssen joined the U.S. Army on July 10,
101967; he received basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri
11and advanced training at Fort Lewis, Washington; he was
12stationed in Germany and then arrived in Vietnam on April 1,
131968; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Cpl. Janssen was killed in action in Vietnam on
15June 3, 1968; therefore, be it
 
16    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
17ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
18CONCURRING HEREIN, that we designate the section of Interstate
1939 in Illinois from Exit 22 to Exit 27 as the "Cpl. Robert D.
20Janssen Memorial Highway"; and be it further

1    RESOLVED, That the Illinois Department of Transportation
2is requested to erect at suitable locations, consistent with
3State and federal regulations, appropriate plaques or signs
4giving notice of the name of "Cpl. Robert D. Janssen Memorial
5Highway"; and be it further
 
6    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
7presented to the family of Cpl. Janssen, the Mayor of Minonk,
8and the Secretary of Transportation.
